ABP, who own and operate the Port of Ipswich and Ipswich Beacon Marina, have now submitted to Ipswich Borough Council’s planning department, their application for proposed developments in the Ipswich Marina area.

To read the full application go to the Ipswich Borough Council Planning Portal here: www.ppc.ipswich.gov.uk Here you will be able to search for the application using the following reference number: 24/00476/FUL (Wet Dock Neptune Quay Ipswich Suffolk).

As detailed in the ‘Planning, Design and Access Statement’, the application is for planning permission for the partial redevelopment of Ipswich Beacon Marina, formerly known as Neptune Marina and Haven Marina at Ipswich Wet Dock.

The development proposals consist of the removal of the existing life-expired marina infrastructure associated with the former Neptune Marina on the north side of the Ipswich Wet Dock and replacement with 14 fully serviced berths and a tender berth. It also includes the construction of two new welfare facilities, one on the northern side and one on the southern side of Ipswich Wet Dock.

Due to the current pontoons on the Northern side of the Marina being at the end of their asset life and requiring removal, the development proposals would secure the site’s successful future use as a marina, with brand new infrastructure which will ensure that we can continue to offer berthing in this popular location of the Waterfront. All existing berth holders would be accommodated within the proposed Ipswich Beacon Marina.

Subject to planning approval, the earliest likely date for any works to commence would be the beginning of 2025.
